Well, Happy New Year everyone. I trust that you have all survived the silly season and are now ready to sit back and enjoy the rest of your summer. I have to confess that I find the two or three weeks that surround the Christmas/New Year period really challenging. I eat more than I should, drink more than I should, shop more than I want to and feel obliged to buy presents for people that I would otherwise not consider… how "bah humbug" is that?! But it is reasonably true. Of course there are the people that I love buying gifts for, and that does make up for the downside a lot.
Then, New Year comes around and you feel obliged to do two things. One is reflect on the year gone by… how quickly they come and go! It's like you turn 30 and time seems to go at a different pace! I once read an article that said that this is actually a true phenomenon, that there is a hormone that effects our concept of time that we create less and less of as we get older (though I am sure there are a bunch of elderly people out there sitting in chairs watching time go round so slowly that would argue that theory with any budding genealogist!).
Anyway, back to reflection. 2011 was a year full of much change. I had to include a full time job to my already full time job, many changes with my growing children and Ali moved to Queensland just to name a few. And all of this seems to have lead to me doing a "not so good job" on ThatMakeup. It's not all bad, I did OK, you all got your product and 99.9% of the time it was on time and correct (though there was the odd slip up, you know who you are and you know how sorry I was :(
No, my crap job has been on this blog, soooo many promises, sooooo many good intentions and sooooo little follow through. I think I know why though, and I think I know how to fix it. You see I just find it hard to talk about makeup all the time, I have heaps to say, but it isn't all makeup related and I end up sitting at my computer with that spare 30mins up my sleeve to wow you all with my brilliance, and I just get stuck on the inspiration stakes. So my answer is to change things around a little. I am just going to write.
Sometimes it will be about makeup, but sometimes it will be about some other wonderful thing that has taken my fancy. I am not going email them all to you, so you wont be bombarded, it is all just going to sit here waiting for you to come and play. So here's to 2012, I look forward to playing with you all much more this year.
